What Is Online Therapy


Online therapy (telepsychology) is a type of therapy that is delivered via phone or online. Sessions that are done online are done through our secure video platform. This allows you to receive our services from a licenced therapist remotely, rather than in our offices. 


Online therapy is both a convenient and effective option for people that may have difficulty getting to our offices for whatever reason, be it distance, mobility issues, or if you just want have sessions in the comfort and privacy of your own home. 


Many of the therapy treatments we offer, including (list out all of the services Ridgeline offers online like individual, or couples, etc and include links to those pages) can be conducted online with one of our licensed therapists.

 

How Does Online Therapy Work?


  1. Fill out our online therapy request form to schedule an appointment or ask us any questions about the service
  2. We will confirm your appointment and answer any questions asked in the form you completed. You will be sent a meeting invitation that contains all of the details of our upcoming appointment including the date, time, and any notes. Please note you will need a stable internet connection, a computer with webcam capabilities, and a distraction free space.
  3. We will conduct our session just as we would if you were in our office. We will discuss your concerns, struggles, or stressors and work through these issues together and develop a treatment plan of action.
  4. We can effectively use a variety of therapeutic techniques during online sessions such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy or Solution-Focused Therapy. However, specialized techniques like sand play therapy will require trips to our office (remove if wrong)
  5. After sessions are complete, we may also provide you with post-session assignments and other helpful resources for you to complete prior to our next appointment. We can continue to schedule regular online therapy appointments going forward.


Is Online Therapy As Effective As In Person?


Yes! There are many studies that show that online therapy and as effective as face-to-face. Telepsychology has been shown to be effective for a range of concerns for both the short and long term.  The increased availability and flexibility of online therapy can allow for more frequent and consistent sessions. Integrating online sessions to your routine can increase overall effectiveness of therapy.
