Tania Johnson

Registered Psychologist & Registered Play Therapist

Tania is a Registered Psychologist, a Play Therapy Practitioner and the Co-founder of the Institute of Child Psychology.

She completed her undergraduate studies in South-Africa before engaging in a one year, full time internship in Chicago at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. During this internship year, she worked with oncology patients and their families. She focused primarily on supporting those who were in the Stem Cell Unit.

In 2012, she received her Masters of Counselling from City University of Seattle. During her Master's degree and in the years following, Tania and her husband lived with and cared for a sibling group of four. Tania’s clinical work has forever been changed by the four children- with the importance of relationship, consistency, and honouring resiliency being central to everything that she does.

Since completing her degree, Tania has worked in a private practice setting with a range of clients. She has a specialization in play therapy and parent coaching, but works with clients across the life-span. She works primarily from an attachment based perspective. This means that she works with clients to explore how early relationships impact how we come to understand our self, other people, and the world. Tania’s approach is depth focused, while maintaining a strong emphasis on healing strategies.

Tania presents workshops on children’s mental health both nationally and internationally, co-hosts “The Childpsych Podcast”, and works in a supervisory capacity with masters level students and provisional psychologists.

Abhishek Bardoloi

Registered Psychologist

Abhishek completed his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science Psychology from McEwan University and his Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. During his time as a student, Abhishek worked as a respite worker and also participated as a distress line volunteer, working with callers who were experiencing imminent crisis.

As a Registered Psychologist, Abhishek is dedicated to helping individuals heal from emotional distress caused by a range of presenting concerns. Abhishek specializes in PTSD, anxiety, depressive mood, concerns related to attachment, navigating conflict in relationships, difficulties with sleeping or eating patterns, wanting more self-confidence,  and patterns of people-pleasing that impact their well-being. To address these symptoms, he incorporates modalities such as EMDR, CBT, psychodynamic and attachment-based interventions to address and gain insight into the root source of these concerns. Abhishek likes to explore and gain insight into how and why these symptoms or patterns may show up today, so we have clarity around why past experiences can affect present mood or behaviour. This gives us a strong foundation of understanding of our symptoms, from which we then work to heal from the source of the symptom itself.

Repeating unhealthy relationship cycles can feel overwhelming, but healing is possible. Abhishek supports clients in developing self-awareness, building resilience, and learning skills to foster healthy, fulfilling connections with themselves and others. He understands how challenging it can be to carry the weight of past traumas and unhealthy relationships into your daily life. You don't have to navigate this path alone. By working together, we can explore these challenges and create a space for healing and growth.

Mitchell Reitz

Registered Psychologist

Mitchell is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Mitchell has a long history of helping others that began during his education where his initiative to make a difference led him to being a volunteer Peer Counsellor for his fellow students. After graduating, Mitchell worked as a Developmental Support Worker where he assisted disabled adolescents and adults in navigating all major life areas. Since then, he has been practicing as a Psychologist and has worked with many different ages, groups, and presenting concerns.

Beyond his experience and credentials, Mitchell believes that the best tool he has for working with clients is his humanity. He remains grounded in the fact that he is a person before he is a Psychologist and this allows him to show up with the same level of honesty, humility, and accountability that he understands is required from his clients to make difficult life changes. This perspective naturally lends to his preferred modalities such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), insight-oriented therapy, narrative therapy, and client-centered therapy. While Mitchell is comfortable utilizing a variety of different approaches, he believes deeply in empowering clients through a collaborative approach where their perspectives, beliefs, and values hold equal weight to his clinical expertise. This allows for therapy to support clients in a way that feels truly personalized to them and more sustainable long-term. The emphasis on collaboration also fosters the client’s ability to advocate for themselves and learn assertiveness through a safe dynamic, helping to support all relationships.

Mitchell enjoys working with all age groups and presenting concerns but has special interests in men’s issues, adolescent development, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He also excels in navigating life transitions and living with general mood disorders. Above all else, Mitchell’s primary focus is creating a space to hold whatever concerns his clients bring in and is prepared to work at whatever pace they are comfortable with.
